Introduction

Welcome to Old English Literature: A Hypertext Coursepack. This site is designed to help you study the primary texts that have been included on the first year Old English Course in preparation for the paper 3a exam, and maybe of interest to students looking at Beowulf (Paper 4c). A range of resources are available including primary texts with a running glossary and notes, instantly accessible online articles and reading lists, translations, contextual information and sources of the poem. There are also a number of exercises for you to do to help you study the texts in greater detail and links to online past examination papers.

At this time two texts have been included on the site, "The Battle of Maldon" (only available via the Oxford domain) and "The Dream of the Rood" (available to all).
