Corpus Christi College and the Faculty of English seek to appoint an Associate Professor (or Professor) in English Literature 1830-1900, with effect from September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is associated with a Tutorial Fellowship at Corpus Christi College. The intention is to appoint an English Literature scholar with an outstanding record in research at international level and with a strong commitment to teaching.
Applications are invited from well-qualified candidates with expertise in literature in English from 1830-1900, with an interdisciplinary focus. Interests in literature and visual/material/ print culture and its circulation in and beyond Britain; non-fictional prose, including literature and science or medicine; writing by women and/or about sexuality, broadly conceived, are particularly welcome. The successful candidate must be able to provide teaching and supervision in English literature and have the capacity to teach the subject from the beginning of the nineteenth century to the modern period (1800 – present) for the College.
The total university and college stipend is on the scale £52,815 - £70,918 p.a., plus allowances. Associate Professors who are awarded the title of full Professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £3,078. The appointment will be pensionable under the USS scheme.
