The Faculty of English Language and Literature is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow in American Literature. This is a 2-year position funded by the Drue Heinz Fund for American Literature at Oxford.
The postholder will be expected to develop a research article, monograph or other significant publication in American literature under the mentorship of Professor Pratt. The Fellow will also be expected to undertake a range of duties relating to the content and organisation of the various colloquia, seminar series, and conferences in American literature at Oxford, and to work in collaboration with the Faculty of English and the Rothermere American Institute to make use of social media and conventional publicity formats to maintain a strong public profile for undertakings in American literary studies at Oxford, as well as to assist Professor Pratt in his current research projects.
The successful candidate must possess a doctorate in the field of American Literature or a related field, must have an established or developing track record of research and possess excellent communication, computer and digital media, interpersonal and organisational skills.
It is anticipated that the appointee will take up the post on 1 September 2020 or shortly thereafter.
Candidates shortlisted for interview will be asked to submit a sample of written work in advance of the interviews, and will be requested to give a short presentation as part of the assessment process.
