Professor Peter Davidson chosen as Interim Master for St Benet's Hall

Peter Davidson

The English Faculty is delighted to congratulate Professor Peter Davidson, who has been appointed interim Master of St Benet’s Hall.

Currently a senior research fellow at Campion Hall, Professor Davidson will take up the post in September, following the departure of the outgoing Master, Professor Werner Jeanrond.

Professor Davidson said: “I am delighted and honoured by this appointment. I have come to know and admire St Benet’s in the last few years and look forward greatly to sharing more deeply in its unique community and culture, shaped in the Benedictine tradition. It will be vital to ensure continuity and stability during a period of transition as the Hall builds on the remarkable legacy of Werner Jeanrond.”

Prior to his arrival at the English Faculty, Professor Davidson spent many years at the University of Aberdeen as Professor of Renaissance Studies, teaching literature and art history, as well as having responsibility for the university's five hundred years of library and museum collections. Before that he taught at the University of Warwick and at Leiden in the Netherlands.
