The English Faculty welcomes interest from suitably qualified applicants in this year's British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme, for awards to be taken up in September or October 2019. The scheme is designed to "offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment which will develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of obtaining permanent lecturing posts by the end of the Fellowship."

Expressions of interest should be made using the attached form, which should be emailed to english.office@ell.ox.ac.uk by noon on 15 August 2018. Please note that all applicants need to have identified a prospective mentor within the Faculty, who should send a brief statement of support to the above email address by the same deadline.
Prospective applicants are also asked to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme, and to consider whether this is the best year for them to make an application, as the British Academy has recently introduced new rules limiting resubmissions by candidates who have previously made unsuccessful applications.
Applications received by 15 August 2018, and supported by the Faculty, will receive additional advice and support from the Faculty’s Research Facilitator. The final deadline for applications to be submitted to the BA has not yet been set but is expected to be at the start of October; applications received between 15 August and a week before the BA deadline will be considered for Faculty support but will not receive any additional guidance from the Research Facilitator.
