Congratulations to Dr Helen Moore who has been jointly awarded the Rose Mary Crawshay Prize for her book Amadis in English, a Study in the Reading of Romance (Oxford University Press, 2020) alongside Professor Gillian Russell with The Ephemeral Eighteenth Century (Cambridge University Press, 2020).
The judges commented:
Helen Moore’s captivating and immensely scholarly study of the afterlives of the sixteenth- century Spanish romance, Amadis de Gaule, encompasses histories of reading, of libraries, of opera, of gender, of genre and canon-formation, of literary nationalism and imperialism, and of the romance of postcoloniality.
