Congratulations to Dr Laura Varnam who has been selected as one of the three winning poets for the Nine Arches Press ‘Primers’ competition.
Primers is a biannual mentoring and publication scheme organised by Nine Arches Press, now in its seventh edition. It provides a unique opportunity for talented poets to find publication and receive a programme of supportive feedback, mentoring and promotion.
Dr Laura Varnam submitted poems from her ‘Women in Beowulf’ project, focusing in particular on Grendel’s Mother. She will be mentored by the competition judge, writer and poet Katie Hale, and the editor of Nine Arches Press, Jane Commane. Next August a selection of her poems will be published in ‘Primers Volume 7’.
