The English Faculty has been ranked number one for English in the Guardian University League Table 2022, released on 11 September 2021, under the subject area ‘English & Creative Writing’.
The Guardian's League Table ranks universities on eight different scores, including what students say about their teaching, class sizes, and how many students get graduate jobs 15 months after leaving university.
Professor Ros Ballaster, Chair of the Faculty Board, is delighted to see the English Faculty take the top spot:
It is wonderful to top this list which pays special attention to the student experience and careers in its rankings. In these recent tough times the passion of our students and scholars for their subject in all its complexity and diversity has kept us all going.
The University of Oxford also features at the top of the overall league table, when all subject areas are taken into consideration, with a score of 100 / 100.
