We are delighted that the Humanities Division has recently announced that it has been awarded over £1m for a cross-faculty Leverhulme Doctoral Centre to be entitled “Publication beyond Print”. The Centre will fully fund 15 DPhil studentships over three years, with the first cohort of five students starting in Michaelmas Term 2018. The Centre will be directed by Professor Daniel Wakelin of the English Faculty, who led the bid with extensive support from many colleagues from across the Division. Students will work on a range of projects related to non-print forms of written textual production from its earliest forms to the digital age, in any Faculty of the Humanities Division or in the Oxford Internet Institute. Professor Wakelin recently explored connection between medieval manuscripts and modern digital media in a competition and exhibition for contemporary artists, Redesigning the Medieval Book.
