Professor Laura Marcus's husband, Professor William Outhwaite, has donated 1,400 books to the Department of British and American Studies at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia. The collection was part of the estate of the much-missed Laura Marcus, Goldsmiths’ Professor of English Literature at the English Faculty.
Professor Slávka Tomaščíková said, "This precious and academically invaluable contribution to the improvement of study and research opportunities for everyone at the Department will be used not only by ‘home’ teachers and students, but also by all guests and students who come to the Department through mobility schemes and partnership cooperation. Our words of thanks go to Emeritus Professor William Outhwaithe, thanks to whose generosity the academic work of his wife Professor Laura Marcus will continue in Košice at BAS FF UPJŠ."
