Joint Winners of the English Poem on a Sacred Subject Prize 2022 Announced

Autumn

We are delighted to announce the joint winners of the English Poem on a Sacred Subject Prize 2022.

Entries were required to consist of not less than sixty and no more than 300 lines. They could be blank verse or in any form of verse rhymed in couplets or stanzas. There is a tradition which discourages dramatic form of composition for this prize. Entrants could choose between the following themes: ‘In heaven it is always Autumn’ (John Donne) or ‘Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.’ (Proverbs vi.6)

This year the judges awarded joint first place to two entries, Burial by Maya Krishnan and Saeculum by Audrey Southgate.

The Judges would like to extend their thanks to all those who submitted entries this year.
