My research interests include Old Norse-Icelandic saga literature, saints' lives, conversion stories, and biblical translations; myth and religion; Eddic and skaldic poetry; devotional literature in Old Norse-Icelandic; Hebrew Bible and Old Testament studies; medieval Christian art, liturgy, and relics; manuscript illumination patristic; also Scandinavian background to Old English literature; Northern myth and legend in Beowulf, Deor, Widsith and other Old English elegiac and heroic poems.
I teach Prelims paper 2 (650-1550), FHS paper 2 (1350-1550), and Course II papers 1 (Old English) 2 (Medieval Romance), and 3 (1350-1550). I also teach a paper 6 option on Old Norse. I supervise dissertations on a range of topics within Old English and Old Norse. For the M.St., I teach a C-course on Old Norse Saga Literature, and I supervise dissertations on Old Norse. I currently have 5 D.Phil. students working on a range of different topics, including romance, saints' lives, allegory, and environmental readings.
