Thesis title: Diagnostic Reading in the Late Nineteenth Century
Supervisor: Ankhi Mukherjee
Research: I am looking at the interaction between clinical psychology and literary criticism at the turn of the twentieth-century. In particular, the construction of the critic as if a diagnostician, whose role is to treat a text using the deconstructive methodologies of the clinic.
Some broad areas of interest: psychoanalysis, Freud, fin de siècle Paris, stream-of-consciousness, postcritique, Decadence.
I welcome any enquiries on topics relating to the above.
