Thesis Title: Contemporary Italian Literature in the UK and the US: Translation and Interaction
Supervisor: Matthew Reynolds
Working on translators of Italian literature into English in the second half of the 20th century, with a focus on their relationship with Italian authors. Case studies: William Weaver and Giorgio Bassani, Charles Tomlinson and Attilio Bertolucci, Ron Jenkins and Dario Fo, Maria Consagra and Franca Rame.
After working with ORE (Oxford Research in English), I am now General Editor of the OCCT Review.
Teaching: This year I am TA for Paper 6 (20th cent. theatre), supervisor of paper 7 (undergraduate dissertations), and teach translation into Italian (Finalists Prose).
Research Interests: theories and methodologies of translation studies, Italian and French literature (20th-21st century), genetic translation studies, self-translation (especially poetic), archival research (especially contemporary archives, of living authors), feminist translation.
I am currently developing a new project on Translation and Mountaineering, which I have presented for the first time at KU Leuven in May 2022.
I have been invited to present part of my thesis at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris), you can find here a description of the event.
My work has been included in the international bibliography on genetic translation studies at https://gdt.hypotheses.org/bibliographie and my publications feature in the international bibliography on self-translation edited by Eva Gentes.
The conference I organised with Rowan Anderson has been highlighted as AHRC achievement in 2021.
