Professor John Pitcher

Shakespeare; Elizabethan and Jacobean drama and poetry; early modern science and literature; bibliographical, textual and editorial theory; the history of the English book 1520s to 1670s; literary and intellectual connections between England and Italy before the Civil War. Special interests: the Elizabethan poet Samuel Daniel; and Pleasure in Early Modern England.

John works in the early modern period (he’s currently co-convening the MSt), and for the past couple of years has given an MSt option on Renaissance Tragicomedy.
